At Light Up, we blend ingredients and craft formulations to suit all skin types, including sensitive. But we still feel it is necessary to understand one’s skin type so that you can pick the products best suited to you.

Quick Check

Take up the 3 challenge and you are on your way to finding out your skin type.

Make sure to clean your face thoroughly bare-faced with your face wash so that your skin is stripped of all makeup, dirt and oil. Pat your face gently with a towel and resist the temptation to apply any serums, moisturizers, creams or skin softeners – just for half an hour!

After 30 minutes, notice your skin carefully and examine your cheeks, forehead, chin, nose and forehead for shine or dryness.

Have a quick look at the below index to see which bare-faced feeling describes you best –

Feels parched, dehydrated or tight ……………………………………………………….Dry Skin
Looks oily, shiny and even a bit greasy, especially in the T-Zone ……………………..Oily Skin
Dry cheeks and oily T-Zone ………………………………………………………………….Combination Skin
Not oily or dry but even …………………………………………………………………………. Normal Skin
Experiencing redness, irritation or inflammation ………………………………………. Sensitive Skin

Decoding the different skin types :

Dry Skin

This skin type could either be a result of not drinking enough water, frequent consumption of alcohol, an unfavorable lifestyle or unfavorable just not-so-great genetics.

It’s common sense that you should stay away from intensely hot water baths, sip water throughout the day and snap up a portable humidifier to give you company wherever you go.

How we can help :

Your skin needs quick hydration and therefore pick a moisturiser or a serum after your bathing ritual that contains natural emollients like hyaluronic acid or shea butter. Our Blaze Vitamin C Serum contains Hyaluronic Acid and we have made sure to include Shea Butter in our Prism Vitamin C Cream so that you can envelop your skin in a cocoon of dewy hydration.

Oily Skin

It’s great if your skin has a healthy shine but when it starts looking greasy and you begin to notice a lot of unnecessary oil on your face and neck: let's face it – you have oily skin! The midday urge to wash your skin again, and your dependence on blotting papers and powders all point towards extra high levels of sebum in your skin which creates that super shiny look.

How we can help :

Mattified skin is on top of your mind and we are here to help you achieve it. Oily skin needs non-comedogenic products as they do not clog pores and make your skin less prone to breakouts. We have specially crafted our creamy Green Juice Brightening Face Cleanse that contains just the right amount of Hemp Oil and Matcha which deeply cleanses your pores from within and mattifies and purifies – all in one go!

And of course, oily skin always needs a great clay mask like our Beam Glacial Glow Mud which is packed with centuries-old wonder New Zealand Glacial Clay. This ancient skin secret has a natural negative charge which sucks out dirt, toxins, excess oil and impurities and lavishes it with collagen, magnesium and silica

Combination Skin

An oily T-zone coupled with dry cheeks is a quick description for combination skin which is why we are such a fan of multi-masking.

Dual masking the concept of using two different masks – one for hydration and one for mattifying is perfect for combination skin. We strongly recommend using Drench Hydrating Jelly Mask on your cheeks for a quick and intense blast of lasting hydration and Beam Glacial Glow Mud on your T-zone which effectively detoxifies, tightens pores and sucks out oil and impurities all at the same time. Set this routine 2-3 times a week and you are all set and on your way to smooth and mattified-looking skin.

Normal Skin

Well, you neither have to deal with frequent breakouts nor the urge to moisturize your skin frequently. Normal skin usually feels clean and smooth with no major concerns or issues. But there is always room for improvement and if the goal is glass or dewy skin, you still need our intervention
